I believe that you are all anxious to hear from Lubumbashi, DR Congo. This is just a quick note. The Waza Teacher Training seminars went very well. There were 152 registered teachers and administrators in Lubumbashi. 132 completed their training. In Kolwezi, we recorded a 100% attendance, with 72 teachers and administrators registered.
A delegation from the Kasai Occidental province (West Kasai) flew in to attend the seminars in Lubumbashi. The provincial minister of education of Kasai Occidental was accompanied by the two inspectors of the Kasai education system and a principal
Keynote speakers include Madame the provincial minister of Katanga, Mrs Therese Lukenge; His excellence, the provincial minister of education of Kasai Occidental, Mr. Alidor Mbengele; Mr, Bakasanda, Director of the education system of the Gecamines company, Sylvia Hyde and myself (Faustin N'Tala).
A committee of teachers working on teaching resources has been set up. Twenty students have been selected to be part of the Waza club in Lubumbashi.
Sylvia, Dick and I have multiple meetings at the provincial ministry of education of Katanga. We took time to visit a few places, too. One of them is the mining company STL.
